22.03.2011 Open Doors Day and Street Parade :)

On 22.03.2011 there was a Open Doors Day in our school. The students from our school chose a subject and they made something interesting on this subject. For example in Biology and Chemistry, the students made interesting experiments and observations. Me and my classmates painted wood eggs. It was very interesting. There were people from other schools who came and watch us.

In the afternoon we went to the Street Parade. We wore strange clothes and we gave colorful tickets with wishes to the people which we’ve met. There were so much people and they all loved the tickets we gave them. Some of them wanted to receive more than one ticket. I was so glad to see the happiness of the people when we gave them the tickets. After we gave away all of the tickets we started waiting for the Parade. It would be very interesting, and it was because there was a famous DJ, called Sandy Riviera. As always, there was a truck platform which crossed the town slowly and it stopped when it got to Tzarevec. It was amazing. All the people were so glad when they saw the truck with the platform.  I’m so happy that I took part in the Street Parade. I can’t wait for the next Street Parade.

You can see the official page of the Street Parade in Facebook there:

Charity Concert - Cause for Everyone

On 17.03.2011 there was a Charity Concert in the manicipality. The concert was called "Cause for Everyone". There were members from four schools who defended their school cause. The money from the tickets we sold had to go for the winner cause. My school win it. The money which we won had to go for a women who needs an eye operation, but at the end of the concert our teacher announced that the money will go for the people in Japan. At one site I'm satisfied that we will help the people who don't have a place to live, but at another I think that the money we have won (450 BGN) would have bigger meaning if they had gone for the woman who needs operation. These money are not enough to help the economy and the people in china, but they would help to the blind woman. On the other hand I'm so glad that we help to those people in Japan.

Theatre 10.03.2011

On 10.03.2011 there was a theatre performance called “The Three Musketeers”. It was a renewed version of the original and it was quite different from the original. But I wqas surprised. It was so pretty. And there was my favourite Bulgarian actor- Kalin Vrachanski. He was charming in the role of musketeer. The other actors and actresses were so too. The theatre was so admirable. If I have a chance to watch this performance again I’ll do it without thinking even for a minute.

Keep the tradition! The 3rd of March. Our most important National Day

3rd of March is our most important National holiday. Bulgaria was under Ottoman rule for almost 500 years, until the Treaty of San Stefano was concluded on 3.3.1877. It ended the Russo-Turkish war and proved the sovereignty of Bulgaria. You can read some other information there: http://www.eurochicago.com/2011/03/march-3rd-ve-bulgarias-national-holiday-liberation-day/

Some students from my school and I went to the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo. There was a festival for the National Holiday. After the concert we went to the monument of Mother Bulgaria (see the picture below) and we left some flowers. All of us were so enthusiastic. I’m so happy that all Bulgarians keep the tradition.
There you can see some information from our school site:

Martenizi In the School Hall :)

On 1st of March the me and the other part of the charity club, were giving  martenitzi in the school hall. These were perfect presents for the beginning of the month which is the beginning of our national holyday, which lasts for the whole month. All the students and teachers were surprised, despite the fact that almost all of the people had their martenitza on their hand or garment. But I am satisfied that all the people liked our presents.

March Instalation (17,02) and organizational CAS meeting (24.02)

On 17th of February we had a Creativity Class and we made an March Instalation (something looking like a tree) for the 1st of March, which is our national celebration called "Baba Marta" (There is a link where you can read more about this celebration: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baba_Marta ). Our "tree" is a oresent for the people from the local residence home. I think that they will be very happy when they see our present. They always are :)
I like the idea about the instalation, because it is something I have never seen before, it was something new to me, it was so unusual, but we made it. We made it as a martencica- black and white. I liked it so much!

There is a publication that shows our work on the March Instalation:

24.02.2011

On the 24th of February me, my classmates and our CAS teacher ha an organizational CAS meeting. We discussed our activities and charity compaigns and we talked about our planning page. I was not in a mood but anyway I had a lot of fun I like when I am together with all my classmates because I love them.

Making Martenitzi

On 16th of February my CAS teacher gave me some stuff to do. It was Martenitzi, which I’ve made with pleasure. One of the most important Bulgarian holydays is coming. It is called “Baba Marta”. I love this holyday. On the 1st of March every single Bulgarian put a martenitza on his hand or garment and they wear it until they see a stork. You can see a martenitza left on the pictire. Nowadays the youth is wearing another type of martenitzi which are looking like bracelets. But no one forget about this holyday. An everyone keeps the tradition. :)  There is more information you can read: http://www.visitbulgaria.net/en/articles/01_march.html

St. Valentine's Day

On 14th February everyone was so excited. It was St. Valentine! I wasn’t  because I had problems with my boyfriend. How come someone could be happy when it is St. Valentine and they have problems with their sweethearts!? So I went to school, I wasn’t in a mood for anything, we didn’t have to wear our uniforms in this day because we were the Cupid Angels, but I was with uniform. In the first break we went to our CAS teacher, who bring us our wings… Everyone were so nice with those wings. So before our third class we went to the other classes and brought them Valentine cards, because there were still people who wanted to buy some. This day we finished school earlier  and at 12:30 we went to the municipality. There was a meeting and we were invited. I have never been in the municipality’s meeting before. There were people from Bulgarian radio and with cameras, who were making photos and asked us questions about the celebration. Everyone were so nice.  I was so excited when  the Mayor of the town told us that Veliko Tarnovo (our lovely town) became The Romantic Capital of Bulgaria for the second year. After the meeting we went  to all of the floors and gave the people Valentine Cards. People were so happy. After that we went to the office of the local newspaper Yantra and we gave them Valentine cards too. The people there were very nice and gave us chocolate bonbons. They were so happy and few days ago made a publication to show how excited they were: http://www.dnesbg.com/obshtestvo/kolezhanite-ot-vearkusve-izrabotiha-300-valentinki.html

Everywhere we went people were so nice and happy to see us (and our wings). And bring me a little happiness too, while watching the people happy. I hope that my next St. Valentine’s Day will be much more better than this one J

Selling Valentine Cards

From 7th to 11th February we were selling Valentine cards, which were handmade. They were poor so people bought so many cards. The cards were selling for just one lev and we made an offer to the couples who were in love: one could buy a card and we (The Angels of St. Valentine) will bring a Valentine card to his or her darling on 14th of February. This idea was so funny . There were even teachers who used this option.  I was so glad to see how much people bought our cards, I’m so glad to see how much people give their money for charity while buying our cards; everyone could go and buy more expencive present for Valentine’s day, but people preffered to buy our handmade cards and make a present to their lovelyones. I’m so happy. I love this  celebration!!!
